Urinary Care Recipe for Cats

Cat Food Recipe for Summer

This is a veterinary formulated urinary care recipe for cats. It replaces the need for C/D or SO diets and meets the clinical nutrition recommendations for lower urinary tract health for cats. It is complete and balanced using whole food ingredients and supplements. (I am no longer going to be using BalanceIT as their supplements are synthetic and I have come to believe they are less healthy and bioavailable than whole food derived supplements.

This means you may need to get a few new supplements- don’t worry, I will have links to everything included! These are supplements you can use for other home cooked recipes as well. It is ok to feed it without supplements short term while you wait for them to arrive.

Recipe:

Instructions:

  1. Cook the beef, hearts, eggs, carrots, pumpkin, and butter in a covered pan over medium heat for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature.
  2. Add in the rest of the ingredients (vitamin E oil, fish oil, nutritional yeast, kelp, IVI blend, and taurine) and mix thoroughly. If your cat prefers a puree’d texture, mix everything together in a blender or food processor with 1 cup of water.
  3. Keep refrigerated for up to 3 days and freeze additional food, thawing for 24 hours in the refrigerator prior to feeding.
  4. Add 1-2 tablespoons of hot (not boiling) water to mix with the food at feeding time to increase appeal and scent.

*This recipe provides 1400 calories and should last about a week for one 11 pound cat.

Hello – I would like to try out this recipe. I already have NaturVet Steamed Bone Meal Powder. Can I use this in place of the eggshell powder (at least until it runs out)? It has 2.58 gm Calcium and 1.29 gm Phosphorus per Tablespoon. Thank you!

is a there difference between feeding this recipe raw v cooked? Is there that safety reason why its being cooked.
